ABOUT
The sire of this colt, Cartello, is a half-brother to the progenitor Cardento, who won three silver medals (Olympic Games, European Championship and World Equestrian Games). Under the saddle of Darragh Kenny, Cartello was one of the best showjumpers in the world for many years. During the Olympic Games in Tokyo, he even won the individual qualifier. He also won the 5* GP in Monterrey La Silla, ranked second in the 5* GP in Calgary and achieved numerous other successes at the highest level. He has earned over 1,6 million euros. From his limited offspring, so far, a few descendants are already performing at 1m45 to 1m50 level.
Washington’s dam, Idaho V/D Hagenhorst, jumped nationally at 1m40 level and internationally at 1m35 level. Looking at her results, we are struck by how often she jumped clear, which underscores her carefulness and good mindset. Both her dam Eastbourne and her granddam Zimba HL have performed at 1m50 level. Zimba is a half-sister to the showjumper Odon RS and the international eventer Inevitable RS, who was also approved as a breeding stallion. Further down the damline, we find even more high-level international showjumpers, such as Sebastian (5*, Christian Ahlmann), Ibera V/D Hagenhorst (5*, Johnny Pals and David O’Brien) and the KWPN approved stallion Jacomar, with whom Marc Houtzager won, among other performances, the Dublin Grand Prix.
