The sire of this colt is the exceptionally promising Drummer 2000 TN Z. Drummer is a genetic gem: his sire is the progenitor Diamant de Semilly, his dam, China Touch Hero, has produced other successful showjumpers besides Drummer, such as Akarad Hero, Esprit de la Roque, Don’t Touch Tiji Hero, Jaguar de Tiji, Diamond Touch and King Of China Hero. Under the saddle of Kars Bonhof, Drummer completed a clear run in the KWPN stallion competition for 5-year-olds, with the icing on the cake being the winner of the overall standings. Drummer managed to repeat last year’s stellar performance this year, this time with Willem Greve. 

If we look not only at his sire’s showjumping qualities but also at the performers in his dam line, the name What A Drummer might well be changed to What A Jumper in the sport later on. His dam, Dolcevita, jumped at international 1m50 Grand Prix level. Her dam, Zodessa, is a full sister to Aladin (1m45 level) and a half-sister to Boy Blue (1m50 level) and three showjumpers from the 1m40 circuit. Zodessa’s granddam, Carina, also has a significant share in the name and fame of this lineage. She produced the showjumping star Hascal, with whom Angelique Hoorn won bronze at the World Championship for 7-year-olds, won the Nations Cup and the 5* GP in La Baule, finished 16^th individually and fourth with the Dutch team at the Euopean Championship in Arnhem, finished 16^th individually at the WEG in Jerez de la Frontera, etc. Furthermore, Carina produced the successful Grand Prix showjumper Zascal and Wajax, with whom Conor Drain competed at 1m45-level.
